Salvage logging after the massive 2003 fires, any excuse for plunder?
Our correspondant in the field reports,
" I took a few pics of some of the "Bushfire Salvage" logging happening at Gelantipy. Pretty shocking stuff. Talk about adding insult to injury - the old growth forest trees survive a massive bushfire only to be cut down and left by the woodchippers. The first pic (copy of 10) with the car in it gives you an idea of the size of the trees they are cutting down and leaving, all of them are prime habitat trees - big old hollow things. "
